Mickey MyersMickey Myers expresses her observations, feelings and talents in a variety of uniquely compelling artwork, most of which are based on pastel. Over many years she has developed her soft, colorful, expressive, yet exciting style.Her current body of work consists of a series of more than 50 individual monoprints over-painted with pastel. The serendipitous process of monoprinting that Myers uses brings textural details and bold color to life in these rich abstract works. The placement of soft pastels over the final print adds to the push and pull of expressive color dialogue. This new work was inspired by Myers’ friends, Marc and Dana vanderHeyden, and is presented in honor of their years of service at St. Michaels’s College. Marc vanderHeyden served as College President for 11 years. It was the vanderHeyden’s enthusiasm about Myers' experiments with monoprinting, and their encouragement to do more, that led her to create this large body of new work. Mickey Myers currently serves as the Executive Director of the Bryan Memorial Gallery in Jeffersonville, VT, having previously held the same position at the Helen Day Art Center in Stowe. Fortunately for all of us, she still finds time to continue her career as a professional painter. |
